Rebooting the book... *again*.

So, a new first issue is due to come out for Wonder Woman.
Not only am I disappointed Greg Rucka isn't returning, I dread the coming new run.
When volume two began we had the glorious art of George Perez. The initial story arc that lead into him writing it too was great and it was a phenomenal redefinition of the character. And then he left.
I persevered through the meanderings of Messner-Loebs. I withstood the nausea of Deodato's art and the Wonder Thong.
I survived John Byrne's almost malicious assault on what Perez had laid as groundwork for the Amazon Princess and his vile continuity molesting that left Donna Troy more confused than ever.
Eric Luke... okay, but no cigar. If they never bring Devastation back I won't shed a tear. I did like Paquette's art though and found him to be a very nice person via email.
Phil Jiminez... great art. He's the second coming of Perez. Yes, his art is a little different. And both men handle facial expressions and intricate backgrounds like few other artists could. Not to mention: between the two of them, who else could draw such massive crowd scenes of heroes and have them be so cool?
Phil's writing? Well. It wasn't Perez... but she didn't go back to working at Taco Whiz either. Thour having Diana working at a fast food joint was odd, it grew on me. She was closer to the people and it showed her lack of pretense.
I loved Phil's backup story with Donna Troy and Fury.
Walt Simonson's story arc made me wonder: WHY? Yeah, I saw the homage to her images in the past. It struck me as boring and tedious.
Rucka's run. VERY nice. He's the only other Wonder Woman writer other than Perez to characterize the Gods well, IMHO. His stories were great, and I would wish that he and Perez would write the book and then Perez and Jiminez would handle the art.
I want to know what's going to happen to Veronica Cale. Now that she's made her role as Wonder Woman's Luthor clear, I want to see her step up to the plate and then be dealt with. I want Vanessa to kick Cale's ass. And of course, Dr. Psycho owes her a lot of pain and suffering.
I really hope what Rucka's done will carry over into the new book and that I won't be in a holding pattern of disappointment again waiting for the book to get good again as it reboots.
Though I think that like Superman, they should continue her original numbering and not start her from issue one.
